lyrics

The Voyage

What’s got you thinking and trying to stay busy,

Still living each day of your past?

You dodge conversation and try to find shelter,

You’re wincing at each blade of grass.

The comfort that’s found here, but still you feel naked

Ashamed of the specter you are.

Everything’s piercing, it seems overwhelming

Afraid that the mountain’s to far…

Away from never ending grey,

From all we used to say,

Afraid that times will change;

And change will bring you pain.

What is my problem? I’m drawn to this Heaven

That seems to be nothing but hurt.

I’m fighting my senses; those that are in conflict

Grown used to a world made of dirt.

Watching my brothers fighting this sickness

From which none of us can be cured

Along comes the teacher, easing my traveling

Giving me freely the cure (Showing me what it means).

And takes it …

I struggle through questions of faith and of reasons I thought I could do well without;

A life after pleasure and swearing by things of which I knew nothing about.

But now at the end I have lost everything, in which I had room left to boast,

‘cause here in the light of Your glorious day, I see now that I’m but a ghost
